Do you ever sit in silence—no noise at all?
Silence in today’s world can be hard to come by.
The kids. The co-workers. The clients. The family.
And that’s just the noise from people.
What about the noise we intentionally turn on?
The radio.
The TV.
The music playing in the background.
Social media, too—it’s all noise.
The videos. The dances. The skits.
There is a lot of noise around us.
But when do you take the time to just sit in silence?
Have you ever gotten up early and sat in the quiet of your home?
Have you ever taken a walk and listened to the silence of nature?
Silence quiets the inner voices.
It creates space.
Space for God to speak.
“Be still, and know that I am God.”—Psalm 46:10 (NIV)
So often, when the world feels loud, we try to drown it out—
with the radio, a TV show, or endless scrolling.
But God doesn’t compete with noise.
He speaks in stillness.
“The Lord was not in the wind…not in the earthquake…not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.”—1 Kings 19:11–12 (NIV)
Take a moment to sit in silence.
That’s often when He speaks the loudest.
And once He speaks, take another moment—
to be still with what He has said to you.
“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.”—John 10:27 (NIV)
God speaks in those quiet moments,
when no one else is around.
Sometimes, the most faithful thing you can do
is simply be quiet.
Reflection Prompt
Take a few minutes today to sit in silence—no music, no phone, no distractions.
Then reflect or journal on the following:
What noise do I most often turn to when I feel overwhelmed?
What might God be inviting me to hear or notice in this season?
How can I intentionally create space for silence this week?
Write without rushing.
There is no right or wrong—only listening.

Love this reminder. BE STILL!
Thank you,
Chelsea
